Eurotent (eurotruck)

 

“Eurotent“ is a conventional concept that means a truck with a semitrailer that has dimensions similar to characteristics specified below. The width of eurotruck (which is another name for eurotent), permits 2 European pallets (each pallet length is 120 cm) to be stowed side by side.

External dimensions of “Eurotent” are the following:

  • Length – 13,6 m
  • Width – 2,45 m
  • Height – 2,45 m
  • Volume: 82 м3
  • Carrying capacity: 20 — 22 tons

There is a big quantity of semi-trailer modifications, among which there are semi-trailers with the volume of 76-78 cubic meters of a smaller length (12,5-13 m) and semi-trailers of a standard and bigger length, width and height (13,6 – 15 m; 2,5 m; 2,7 m).


The construction of a semi-trailer is fitted with a convertible tent, thus allowing for side- or top- loading/unloading. Besides, semi-trailer with a removed tent makes it possible to use semi-trailer as an open platform with the height of sideboards from 35 to 50 cm.

 

Isothermal semitrailer and refrigerator

The isothermal semitrailer and refrigerator with volume of 82 m3 has performance characteristics similar to those of isothermal trucks of a smaller size.

20 t truck with 40 ft container

The truck provided with a 40ft maritime container by its performance characteristics is close to that of a 20t truck with tented or isothermal body.


There are several types of 40ft maritime containers. The most commonly used kinds are as follows:

  • Standard 40ft container;
  • 40 ft thermo container (analogy to an isothermal truck);
  • 40 ft reefer container (isothermal truck with in-built cooling equipment);
  • 40ft container with tent roof;
  • 40ft platform fixed ends.


External dimensions of 40 ft container are the following:

  • Length – 12,0 m
  • Width – 2,4 m
  • Height – 2,4 m
  • Volume: 68 м3
  • Carrying capacity: 20 — 22 tons

10 t tent truck

Approximate characteristics of cargo body of a truck with carrying capacity 10-15 tons*:

  • Length: 5,0 — 8,0 m
  • Width: 2,4 — 2,5 m
  • Height: 1,8 — 3,0 m
  • Volume: 25 — 60 m3
  • Carrying capacity: 5 — 15 tons

Considerable variation in parameters is explained by various variants of cargo bodies.
Trucks of this class are extensively used in interurban and international routes. Usually a cab is equipped with sleeping berth and a seat for the freight forwarder. Standard specification of a truck is equipped with fastening belts (up to 6 items). The cargo body fit for different types of loading/ unloading (top, side). Import truck models configuration may provide for pneumatic suspension, thus considerably facilitating ride comfort and better security of fragile cargo. These trucks can be equipped with a lift.

Approximate characteristics of cargo body of a truck with carrying capacity 10-15 tons*:

  • Length: 5,0 — 8,0 m
  • Width: 2,4 — 2,5 m
  • Height: 1,8 — 3,0 m
  • Volume: 25 — 60 m3
  • Carrying capacity: 5 — 15 tons

Considerable variation in parameters is explained by various variants of cargo bodies.

Trucks of this class are capable of keeping the temperature of loading for a long time (10-20 hours) on condition the exterior temperature ranges from –10 0C to +20 0C. Besides, several models make it possible to provide heating up of the cargo body, thus allowing for keeping the level of interior temperature for a longer period of time and at lower exterior temperatures. Sideboards of load box are made from tin-plated foam plastic. Doors of a cargo body are equipped with multiplexer. Ventilation outlets are provided. Usually a cargo body is equipped with an extra side door to facilitate loading/ unloading.
Import truck models configuration may provide for pneumatic suspension, thus considerably facilitating ride comfort and better security of fragile cargo. These trucks can be equipped with a lift.

The truck provided with a 20ft maritime container by its performance characteristics is close to that of 10t truck with tented or isothermal body.

There are several types of 20ft maritime containers. The most commonly used kinds are as follows:

  • Standard 20ft container;
  • 20ft thermo container (analogy to an isothermal truck);
  • 20ft refrigerator container (an isothermal truck with in-built cooling equipment);
  • 20ft container with a tent roof;
  • 20ft platform fixed ends.

All container types are used for transportation of cargoes in intermodal traffic (using different kinds of transport). All containers have uniform external dimensions.
In Russia, there is a category of trucks with different types of containers mounted on the frame platform for permanent use in truck transportation.

  • Volume: 34 м3
  • Carrying capacity: 10 — 20 tons (limited by the carrying capacity of car)
